"At some point the way to increase profits will be to make people sick." Or... keep them from getting well through good nutrition and use of inexpensive (not patentable) vitamin suppliments.... (It works either way, don't 'cha know. :) One of the first things any monopoly or oligopoly does is erect a 'ring fence' around their turf. Keep the barriers to entry to their field HIGH. Stomping on possible competition keeps your profits up.
