The best defense I've heard so far from the 'Rove broke no laws' camp is that this specific law prohibiting the disclosure of the identity of under-cover intelligence agents says: "if the agent has been in an undercover assignment overseas within the preceeding 5 years." At first glance, it looks like she might not have been assigned overseas with the CIA for about six years.

Apparently, it is so hard to convict someone under this law that there has only been ONE conviction since it was passed --- a staffer in Nigeria who revealed the identities of two US agents to his lover....

Still, the CIA takes the matter VERY SERIOUSLY.
