The Weavers were out of line.

The kids weren't. They were just kids, including a babe in arms.

I wasn't there, I defer to others who were, but shooting at people holding little kids makes zero sense to me if it can be avoided.

Same thing with Waco.

I think something, maybe testosterone, maybe the thrill of the hunt, maybe the drive to do your job and do it well, takes over and short-circuits the frontal lobes for a little while.

Narrow focus on the trees, not seeing the forest.

Nobody means to kill little kids, but still, shooting at people holding little kids is inherently risky.

I won't second guess what happened in LA until the facts come out but Ruby Ridge and Waco did not have to happen.

Edit: I guess you're thinking about the liability of the men involved, and that's not where I am going. It's just an objective observation from someone who wasn't there and didn't experience the gut-wrenching emotions of those who were. Call it 20-20 hindsight.
