Read a good comment on flag burning in response to this story on Free Republic: You can burn the flag with reverence (when it's worn out), but not with defiance? Then what's being punished is your attitude, and criminalizing people's attitude is as un-American as it gets. Someone else quoted from the Bill of No Rights -- you have no right to not be offended. ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone - and not just you!
