Letting illegal immigrants stay makes great sense economically, but politically it's becoming a disaster. Anti-immigration is one of those ideas whose time has come.

People at the top of the ladder whose jobs are not at threat have a hard time relating.

To me, it's part of the same mentality that wants to ban Wal-Mart and wants to ban outsourcing. Cheap labor is cheap labor whether it's illegals, call centers in Bangalore, or Wal-Mart employees selling cheap Chinese goods. The "good jobs" are not safe, maybe don't exist anymore.

But "creative destruction" isn't much fun when you're the one whose job is being destroyed.

Turning it into a terrorism/security issue is just an excuse, IMO.
