They could decide to go with China and Russia and ignore the US of A. Heck, the Iraq government is playing more nicely with Iran than with us. They know our history with Iran and they don't care. Nice return on our investment isn't it? What would happen if there was a national effort to reduce oil usage by, say, 20%? How hard would it be for every individual to reduce his/her usage by that much? Would it be possible to walk or bike or scooter to run errands instead of dragging out the Suburban? Would it be possible to carpool a couple of days out of the month? Would it be possible to videoteleconference some of the time instead of putting people on planes? What would it take? Would it really be that difficult? Would that open up opportunities for new businesses that, say, build more comfortable and stable bikes or better insulated houses or (just saw this one LOL) TIDE which washes better in cold water? Wouldn't it be better to expend $350 billion on THIS effort instead of on killing and demolishing and then trying to rebuild what we just kicked down. Does anyone actually believe that the oil situation in the world is going to get any better in the future?
