I have said in the past if we were to invade somewhere it should have been Saudi land not Iraq. Iraq has almost as much oil as Saudi Arabia. I believe several factors contributed to the selection of Iraq; Saddam's regional ambitions, Iraqi oil reserves, and the more secular nature of the Iraqi people. Reconciling our actions to date, leads me to believe our strategy has several goals commensurate to our interests. The removal of Saddam, the advancement of Middle East democracy with civil rights, and bringing Iraqi oil reserves to production capacity are the steps required to achieve them. Currently it is impossible to bring about regime change in Saudi Arabia without disrupting world oil supply. Only when oil production is increased elsewhere will it be possible for us to intervene directly in Saudi Arabia. * * *
