I don't understand, if most reservists and national guardsmen are holed up in camps, what's the concern about them being on the front lines?

How do supplies get to those camps and what's the ratio of suppliers to actual combat troops? Frontline did an interesting piece on Camp Anaconda and other installations. It's a city of almost 40,000 people with a Subway franchise, pizza ovens, ice cream, videogames, etc.

It doesn't look like a war zone, it looks like a stateside base. If there aren't enough troops to man the Iraqi border from which supposedly flow suicider bombers, what the heck are all those people doing there?
