I didn't address whether what Tom Tancredo said was good policy. I was referring to the present day PC of making an apology for every offensive remark. One can't talk about anything today without offending some subset of people. Clinton was
very adept at giving an apology not only for hisself but for the American people.
Trent Lott made a fool of himself for apoligising. Did the "Exalted Cyclops" (Bobby Byrd) ever make an apology? The answer is no and it is probably to his credit.

In short, those who can't stand by their words (for at least a few days) are undeserving of any praise.
