Mindmeld, I'm all for national ID cards. No ID card, no job. No ID card, then you should be deported. End of story.

You'll be inviting the wrath of all the BigBrother-phobes, but the funny thing is that technology can easily address the more reasonable of their concerns.

I'm still waiting for the day when credit cards no longer have the number out in the open, but instead embed the number within a computer chip, accessible only via RSA encryption techniques. Just a few weeks ago, some major league a--hole (tm. Dubya) made some fradulent charges on my primary credit card, and I had to get the number changed. How come no one is working on a solution to that?
