I don't know where I left off on this ongoing saga but the woman from Animal Control called me last night. She said that the driver of the van who tried to catch Toto last night does not have all the answers.She would like to bring a crew here tonight to try to capture her.. Good luck. I all ready have people writing to me to adopt her from having sent messages to my email friends. Anyway, the guy from the truck took her bed away from me... and so I had to get another. He said that is was contaminated. She was getting less spooked but when he tried to use a net on her she went right back to her non trusting behaviors. I do not feed her hamburger alone. I mix it in with my dog's food which is from health food store and very good. The can of food they left in the crate that was to capture her... last night... is still there. I know that she will not go in it. She is cautious about coming up on the porch.. and only does so in fast dashes to eat and at night after dark. Otherwise she parks herself on the cement that extrudes from the garage doors... and hugs the doors. We had torrential storms here last night. That is where she was. Huddled. Heart breaking. After the driver told me that she had to be put down I could not eat for the rest of the day.. Had a luncheon appointment with friends but you know, this is not my dog, however her plight is so pathetic. That she has braved the elements and lived in thick woods as long as she has and survived eating God knows what, is a testimony to her brave little heart. So, how can one give up on her.. I cannot. I offered to pay any vet bill and the driver said to cure that mange would cost thousands.. At any rate... Anita from the Animal Control has been infected with the same zeal that I have and promises to help and have a vet look at her to make a decision. She said she will not put her down.
