In Denmark they have their own "DanCard" (a bank card), which they take everywhere. Also in Scandinavia you may find Diners accepted places where they take no other cards. At least in Sweden parking houses all accept credit cards in the machines.
Just south of the Danish boarder Danish currency is as accepted as Euros. In North Sweden around Haparanda the whole economy is Euro based. When the city planned on all paychecks issued in Euros, however, they got a njet. This is all close to Finland - and Russia.

Norway, well they have their own rules and can afford it. Still no oil imported. Something to copy for the US? Same with Alaska King Crabs, own production now since they (the crabs...) migrated over from Alaska 15-20 years ago. Incidentally they have the best lobster in the World.
