men and women would find things to do with their time besides procreate, would actually prefer and find practical ways of having fewer children.

Considering that the population is already crowding on the last remaining habitat of many species we should not discourage anyone who voluntarily has fewer children.

Population growth, if you back out inward migration, is generally slower in the developed world and is actually negative in much of Europe

All of which shows that population is really only a problem when there are barriers to family planning.

The tragedy of the commons is still relevant today.
From time to time there is greater understanding of what is common and what has little effect on others. The conclusions are relevant either way.
