Afraid? How 'bout suspicious? Yes, if any of these people are "committed" to a fascistic distortion of their claimed religion and advocate (or commit) murder and terror in the name of their "faith", then I WOULD be highly suspicious of them, and if they broke the law, I would expect them to be prosecuted.
BTW, Eric Rudolph is just such a person. He just got a life sentence for murder in the name of "religion." And he has plenty of sympathizers, all of whom are suspect, IMO.
Some run around SI, or build "churches" and websites, espousing hatred of homosexuals and making heroes of their "cause" out of people who violently attack them. They, too, are suspect, IMO.
Others, as we know, vehemently oppose particular (or all) religions with their own peculiar zeal, demonstrating deep-seated intolerance or outright hatred that can easily manifest itself in political oppression or violence if the opportunity arises. We should watch out for that type, too.
All of these types are a potential threat to our freedom. They may, of course, hold whatever perverted, hateful opinions they like, but we should be diligent in watching out for them to step over the line - becoming violent, fomenting violence, or seeking to oppress those whom they hate because of their beliefs. |
