Yes, a government/corporate conspiracy to usurp civil liberties in the name of nationalism, accompanied by rampant militarism, state worship, disregard for Constitutional requirements and often intollerance. Now, I don't think we're all the way there, thank god, buy we're certainly heading down that road and a lot more facist already than most Americans realize (like offensive undeclared wars).

We have witnessed a blatant collusion of corporate and government power since the 1980s. This is demonstrated very clearly in the way the government now feeds the corporations huge "defense expenditures" and has taken us to war at least twice on their behalf. 2001 and 2003 marked the first time our nation engaged in two clearly offensive wars, Afghanastan and Iraq (something very characteristic of a facist form of government). This is a turn towards facism. The melding of the Republican party with a hardcore Christian religious movement is another sign of facism.

This of course all occurs because ordinary Americans either don't care or don't realize what is going on. It seems now our government can do anything at all, like kill 40,000 Iraqis for no reason, and people will support those policies, another hallmark of facism.
