You are coming close again to the logical fallacy of excessive vividness. Auschwitz and the rest of the holocaust did have a real effect on the people of Europe even if they didn't know it was going on. An entire culture disappeared. Gone were the bagels and matzo balls. Gone were diamond merchants, banking, retail, and whole neighborhoods. Yes, it would be noticed. That is a far cry from a woman who you didn't know in the first place not being pregnant. Still, when you multiply that by a million there would be some effect. The effect of a million unwanted pregnancies avoided is lower crime, lower rates of child abuse, and greater care heaped upon those children whose parents did want them at the time they were born.
