That's the truth. It would have to be done very carefully. We wouldn't want local gov't nincompoops mishandling national id information and letting it fall into hackers hands. But all of those concerns can be dealt with. A national id is really a very logical solution to alot of problems, not just national security interests. I simply don't understand what all the fuss is about.

On the other side of the Atlantic, where more practical people live in the UK, they are seriously considering a national ID card.
