Ed Klein: Hillary Clinton Will Cave in War on Terror News Max ^ | 7-19-05
The American people are warming to the idea of Hillary Clinton as their commander in chief, according to a glowing profile in USA Today.
But Ed Klein, author of the runaway best seller "The Truth About Hillary," is warning that if she becomes president, Hillary will cut and run in the war on terror the minute her polls go south.
"Hillary is a poll-driven politician and her sudden emergence as a pro-military figure is purely expediency and positioning herself for the 2008 presidential election," Klein told NewsMax on Tuesday.
"Because she has no principles, but is driven entirely by her ambition, she cannot be counted on to be a steadfast leader of the war on terrorism," he contends.
USA Today's report paints an entirely different picture - and even goes so far as to suggest that Mrs. Clinton is actually popular in military circles.
The paper quotes New Yorker Bill Herberger, an 80-year-old former American Legion commander, who was impressed with Sen. Clinton's pledge to save the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station from closure.
"I will tell you that I didn't support her, because I didn't think she'd be supportive on issues like this," Herberger said. "And I will tell you that I will vote for her next time. She's been absolutely marvelous."
Author Klein told NewsMax, however, that gushing media profiles and Mrs. Clinton's Johnny-come-lately pro-defense pronouncements aren't as important as her long history of antipathy toward the armed forces.
"If the polls should suddenly turn negative on our global crusade against Islamofacism," he warns, "you can be sure Hillary will collapse." |
