So violent political protest is political protest?
How do you differentiate, specifically, between terrorism and violence? How is not violent political protest not part of the elemental fish and fowl thing, while terrorism is?
If a terrorist act is politically motivated, and aimed at changing something which the terrorists are against, just as a peaceful political protest would be, how are they not exactly the same, but for the violence?
Nevermind about question number one- I found this:
"Terrorism doesn't equate to violence any more than terrorism equates to protest. Terrorism is a very particular thing--a coercive strategy of instilling fear for political gain. Acting out violently at a political rally doesn't qualify."

And yet, violence is the larger set (simply because there can be so much variety in violent acts), with terrorism being a subset. So while violence does not equal terroism, terroism certainly equals violence, ergo, if you accept violence can be a part of protest, then the subset of violence, which is terrorism, logically can be a part of protest. |
