"I think MLSCN will be important in helping the pharma industry get new drugs, look at new mechanisms," says Livingston. "It's been said that blockbusters are going to come from new biology, not new chemistry. I think that's absolutely true. A big part of this, of course, is systems biology. Using these small molecules is often an ideal tool to use as molecular probes. They can be very powerful in biology as well."
