If Bush noms a rightwinger it will only make matters worse for him, but what it will do is rally the far right 20% of the country to him. Many of them are super patriots who abhore anyone who would out a CIA agent, or entertain Jeff Gannon 197 times in the WH. Bush is walking a tightrope.

If Bush noms a decent Supremo then it will help him and douse some of the fire on his back, but Rovegate still isn't going away.
