re: What's worse are the hypocrites who claim to be "moderate" and "open-minded" but prove to be the most closed-minded partisans on this thread.
OK, it's a partisan thread, I think most people on this thread are partisan.
But my God, doesn't this war rise above partisan politics? I can repeat the costs in countless lives destroyed, but you know that. Don't you think that something as personally significant as this war should be looked at in the cold light of logic, good vs. bad. Result vs. cost?
IMO it's something that has to be looked at in isolation, regardless of your politics. All of us have to say to ourselves "would I sacrifice my only kid to accomplish this mission, is the goal worth losing the love and life of my only child?".
If you can sincerely say yes to that, then you are committed; it's not partisan. And I'll respect your opinion. In the end, it has nothing to do with Democrat vs. Republican, liberal vs. conservative, Bush vs. whoever.
This is really, really serious. Dead serious. Your family at risk of death serious. Everytime a US kid dies, he is a proxy for your kid, born or un-born. It's personal, not political.
