Europe looks to raise sustainable energy profile Wednesday 20 July 2005 The European Commission has launched a new campaign this week to boost public awareness of sustainable energy. The campaign, which runs until 2008, aims to increase the level of understanding and support of renewable energy forms, and stimulate more private investment in the European market. An annual conference and awards ceremony will be introduced as part of the campaign, and a comprehensive website will support the initiative. “This campaign will promote better living standards, stimulate economic growth, create jobs and enhance the competitive position of European industry on world markets,” said Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, launching the campaign.
