Given the widespread problem of rape and various superstitions about sleeping with children, widows and virgins to cure AIDS in different corners of South Africa, a pro-virginity campaign might not accomplish much. Couldn't hurt though.

I remember in the late 1980's that AIDS was considered a gay disease by blacks. They called it the American Idea to Discourage Sex. Whites thought it was just a black problem.

Then it turned into everybody's problem. I haven't seen any figures but I assume the infection levels stabilized in the white gay community eventually.
