Don't know too much about rentals, but read something a while back about how the market is tightening up in the DC area. There's some concern about the growing number of apartments being converted to condos, because it will further decrease affordable housing.

And as for your other question about the Realtor/discount brokerage issue.... No, I don't care to get into it. That subject was covered extensively here a long time ago. It's a complicated subject where different state laws come into play, and few people (including the WSJ reporter who wrote about it) really understand it well enough to cover the subject well.

Just one example is the lack of understanding of "exclusive agency" and the legal issues associated with that.
