Thank-you Kevin - I saw the report and I did not know quite how to interpret the statement....

"...the Novell cache can service close to 4000 connections per second and deliver up to 32MB of payload per second, which is up to ten times the capacity of existing Unix and NT solutions..."

Let's assume that a corporate customer has a T1 line with 1000 users and the network load is balanced with maximum through put per connection at 28.8KB/sec. Can I assume that if BorderManager is installed, this customer could increase the number of user connections by a factor of 10? In other words the network administrator could add 4500 more users to the same network and achieve the same network through put per user (assume 2 connections per second per user) by simply utilizing BorderManager?

If this is the case (1) the Unix and/or NT solution is very inefficient, (2) The current way of routing connections and allocating resources in the network is very inefficient or (3) Novell's solution (BorderManager) for system resource allocation and balance loading is VERY good.

Kevin - this would be a no brainer call for a potential customer if it was this simple of an analysis. I have to feel I am missing something here.

In either case, to sell this to our customers, a simple one or two paragraph example of the possible cost savings (in overall system resource utilization) must be presented. If so, then this product could be a real winner.

Maybe you or somebody else familiar with this product can explain the software efficiencies in very simple terms that I can understand.
