She cannot act in her own self interest. She in fact HAS no interest in whether they do or do not disconnect. Therefore, what is done to her body should defer to the nearest family--and I don't mean the fetus which also has no interest in the matter.

If I was family I would (probably) consider what they are proposing as a defilement of the dead--and I would certainly object. On the other hand, if she had previously told me that she dearly wanted to bring a life into the world even if she were brain dead...then her wishes ought to be honored. Naturally, it should not be at the expense of total strangers unless the country has a medicare program which includes this...
