I say we accept limits on the rights we enjoy in a state of nature when we form society. You say the rights we enjoy in society are, by definition, limited. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to.

PS: Laws are designed, in part, to prevent or resolve conflict, but they often fail. And I'm not talking about people breaking laws such that they violate someone else's rights, but rather the law failing to adequately assign or limit rights. That's the entire basis for the economic concept of externalities.
