tejek,

re:
I didn't say it was meant to send a message. Making the choice sent the message automatically.

Making any choice would send a message to someone - that's why I said I don't read tea leaves. Bush will be long gone while this guys on the bench for life. As I recall the far left thinks everything Bush does is wrong anyway - so every thing he does is out to get them. Paranoid delusionals?

re:.........one position is very clear: he's against abortion

Not sure I can agree on that one - he's been on both sides - although I'd agree he has expressed concerns over the creation of law that would make you think he's against the law, perhaps not the act itself. I'd not like to see Roe vs Wade overturned but I realize it's possible it was bad law. Even if over turned it would simply move back to the states and they can decide it on their own. On another level it sort of makes me happy the same folks so against guns may have something to lose for once. It's really frustrating to have a bunch of people after your rights all the time - especially when the second amendment is real - the abortion law was, as some say, invented.

In my own life I've used the abortion option more than once (slow learner). I don't have a problem with abortion itself if done before a reasonable period - over six months seems a bit far along in the process to be doing an abortion.

I'm a bit more interested in his opinions on Guns - being a collector and hunter. I have about 75 handguns and rifles almost all of them .22 rimfires. The oldest being a Belgian 1894 Flobert BB-Cap I just finished restoring last week. Most times the laws and opinions expressed on guns focus solely on the crime part - yet neglect every other aspect. In every case I find existing law that makes murder a crime, so it all seems politically motivated irrational fear driving the media or public opinion in many cases.
