I didn't say it was meant to send a message. Making the choice sent the message automatically.

Making any choice would send a message to someone - that's why I said I don't read tea leaves. Bush will be long gone while this guys on the bench for life. As I recall the far left thinks everything Bush does is wrong anyway - so every thing he does is out to get them. Paranoid delusionals?

I don't think Amy is far left and I suspect many women will feel the same way[there's that word again]. Whether intended or not, Bush's choice is typical of his adminiatration............their actions tend to divide us.

re:.........one position is very clear: he's against abortion

Not sure I can agree on that one - he's been on both sides - although I'd agree he has expressed concerns over the creation of law that would make you think he's against the law, perhaps not the act itself.

I was referring to Bush's nominee.....and it was confirmed tonite on the news that he is anti abortion and a "bedrock conservative". No surprises there.

I'd not like to see Roe vs Wade overturned but I realize it's possible it was bad law.

Its not a law..........it was a ruling. The court had been moving in that direction for 50 years. Its based on the right to privacy and a woman's right to choose. The concept is very simple and very right on. Frankly, I hope the neocons try to reverse Roe vs Wade. Hopefully, it will wake up Americans to the disaster they put into power and their desire to take us backwards.

Even if over turned it would simply move back to the states and they can decide it on their own. On another level it sort of makes me happy the same folks so against guns may have something to lose for once. It's really frustrating to have a bunch of people after your rights all the time - especially when the second amendment is real - the abortion law was, as some say, invented.

NRA chooses to interpret the second amendment to its benefit. The Court has ruled otherwise......but the NRA is wedded to its guns.

Roe vs Wade was "invented" as you say when it was determined that abortions could be done safely and that the nation was mature enough to accept the right to choose.

I'm a bit more interested in his opinions on Guns - being a collector and hunter. I have about 75 handguns and rifles almost all of them .22 rimfires. The oldest being a Belgian 1894 Flobert BB-Cap I just finished restoring last week. Most times the laws and opinions expressed on guns focus solely on the crime part - yet neglect every other aspect. In every case I find existing law that makes murder a crime, so it all seems politically motivated irrational fear driving the media or public opinion in many cases.

Not to worry........I'm sure he will support the NRA 100%.
