Interesting article on Costco in NYTimes. I had no idea the average pay is $17 an hour. We've been going to the same Costco for at least 15 years, and some of the employees have been there for the same length of time. I never even thought about the low turnover. I just know to get into the lines where I recognize the checker, because they move faster.

One thing I did notice recently. After years of turning up my nose at their furniture, I noticed that some of the pieces they are selling now have dovetail joints, instead of stapled joints. Dovetail joints are Good Things. Someone's thinking.
