Why was Saddam singled out for sanctions in a world full of tyrants and weapons accumulators (why not North Korea, Iran, etc.?), and why suddenly after the Gulf War? This was, after all, the exact same Saddam Huessein that we in the West, including the U.S., had supported for over a decade prior to the Gulf War. The same Saddam Huessein who was built up with Western weapons and technology. The same Saddam Huessein who gassed the Kurds while we said nothing and continued to supply him with weapons, including chemicals that could be used to make chemical weapons.

The sanctions against Saddam were arbitrary and cruel. Over 1,000,000 Iraqis died as a result of the sanctions. Saddam was singled out because he went against the economic world oil order, not for any of this tryrannical acts (which the West supported previously and does so to this day in other countries), which were ignored in the previous decade. So, no there was no moral justification for sanctions against Saddam, the justifications were purely economic, and for that I can blame Western policy for pursuing a purely economic-based foreign policy.

Why is it so hard for Americans to accept that our actions sometimes create reactions like terrorism?

Why should I say something that is not true? I do not hate America in the least. I just want our country to live up to its full potential, and under the current leadership we're not even coming close to living up to our full potential. Our government engaging in a volatile part of the world, when there are clearly alternatives that would make life safer and better in America that should be explored is hardly anti-American (whatever that world actually means?!?).
