"If I understand you correctly Republicans put the standard too high when they set it at being convicted (Rove). If I understand you Republicans are putting the standard too low when they set it at being convicted (Clinton). Hmmm. Something is out of balance here..."

Yes, what is "out of balance" is the Republicans putting the proper emphasis on crimes. Should Clinton have been impeached for lying

Do you mean that six years later you still do not understand how our legal system works? The foundation of our legal system is the lawyers. They owe a special duty to uphold legal standards. Clinton was a lawyer. The first course above the foundation is the precept that one does not perjure in a court. Lawyers are supposed to council their clients to never, ever lie in court. With defendants and witnesses telling the truth or at a minimum not lying, the system sort of works. If everyone lies, the legal system has no chance of working. The next layer of our legal system is law enforcement. The President is our top law enforcement officer in the country. The justice department and investigative agencies work for the President. Cops that lie are the worst threat to our way of life. They are rotten to the core. I am now stepping off of my soap box.

Clinton perjured himself. What was out of balance was every Democrat in the Senate and a handful of liberal Republican Senators who put political expediency above the law.

Is your position is that it is ok for lawyers and cops to lie in court if it is convenient for the case at hand? That is the logical extension of your argument.

I think it's a matter of applying the Constitution evenly.

Evenly, like forcing the removal of one President for crimes and not forcing another President out for crimes? Anyone who claims that is balance is viewing the world through partisan glasses.

I just want to see Rove held to the same standard as any other American slob who gets caught in our legal system. It would be bad if Rove is perceived as being above the law.

That is what is happening. Karl Rove is recognized for being the political genius that he is. For that the media thinks he needs to become a casualty so the media can proceed to defeat the President's agenda. They thought they found a way to get Rove.
