"Population control" comes back to bite China

So China instituted its one-child policy. Many parents aborted girls in favor of having a boy as their one kid. Now there are more single men in China than in renowned bachelor lair Alaska: 23 million unable to find a woman, according to Agence France Presse. So the country is facing a gender imbalance that could affect crime rates and result in a more authoritarian form of government, AFP reports. "Bachelor ghettos" would have "commercial sex outlets." STDs aplenty.

Of course, there isn't much focus on the fact that the one-child policy is one of the most egregious human-rights violations we've ever seen. Amensty International took the gutless route and refused to take a position on the policy itself, though they said in their 2005 report that "serious violations against women and girls continued to be reported as a result of the enforcement of the family planning policy, including forced abortions and sterilizations."

And leftist women's groups (keep in mind there are good women's groups such as Feminists For Life) have been disgustingly silent on this clear violence against women, never mind the true stifling of reproductive freedom, a term that the NARALs of the world lift as their mantra. Add to that the fact that the selective-sex abortions are wiping out the next generation of women.

There is no matchmaker or online dating service that will be able to save China from the bachelor explosion. They've made their bed, and now will have to lay in it (and not much else).
