We were interfering in the ME, and we support Israel- as the largest beneficiary of our foreign aid. Supporting Israel is supporting an invader of Arab lands (in the minds of Arabs).

It doesn't matter that we stopped at the border- the fact that we were there at all is the problem for many of the jihadists.
