I’d be interested to know where Motley Fool got their numbers from with regards to their contention that JAKKS’s Quarterly Turnover (Sales) increased by 16% to $127.1 mil.,"for the Quarter", and EPS increased by 77% to $0.39c.
According to Reuters, JAKKS’s previous Quarterly T/O for 31/3/05, published on 22/4/05, was $134.7 mil., and their Basic EPS was $0.38c.
According to my calculations that’s a drop in Sales of 5.6% "for the Quarter" and a rise in Basic EPS of 2.6% "for the Quarter".
From what I can ascertain, JAKK had a T/O, 6 months ago, of $184.8 mil., and a T/O, 3 months ago, of $134.7 mil. If the latest Quarterly T/O of $127.1 mil. is correct, Sales have dropped steadily by a total of 31% in 6 months and EPS is up by 14%.
If we compare this Quarter to the same Quarter 12 months ago, then Sales have gone up by 16%, and EPS by 52%.
It seems one can draw different conclusions if one goes back 6 months or 12 months.
Are you in agreement with Motley Fool’s figures ? Have Reuters, or myself, got it wrong ?
