Depending on the area many of those same apartments have regain much of their value. Also those who made those investments were overleveraged speculators, not consumers or investors. Values in central districts of Tokyo and Osaka were the areas most hurt. Get away from them and it was far less dramatic. I am looking at buying a bed and breakfast in Nagano.
