My daughter unplugs her phone at bedtime. I found out after calling for two days after she forgot to plug it back in. Unplugging also turns off the answering machine. I finally drove the 25 miles at night to find out if she died, and to deliver the message I had for her. After explaining to her how useless a phone is when it is unplugged. I suggested that she turn the volume to zero, but leave the phone plugged so that the answering machine part still operates. Also set the answerer to answer first before the phone rings - hers can be set like that so she doesn't miss any more of MY IMPORTANT MESSAGES - KIDS, grrrrr. (she's 41).
