No one is happy with it, and no one seems to have a plan to fix it either. I agree that our media are a mess. Just like our infrastructure. But the media are going through traumatic times. Is it creative destruction or just destruction? I don't see a plan, either, but the lack of a plan doesn't mean that they can't come out the other end better than they are. Unplanned change isn't necessarily change for the worse. If abortion can mitigate the crime problem, who knows what might end up improving the media?
