A few years ago we had a rash of mail boxes blowing up. Kids were mixing bleach and brake fluid in two liter pop bottles. Shake 'em up and they'd go off between 10 seconds and an hour. The kids learned that from a movie. Lots of ways to make explosives.

I made black powder as a kid, charcoal, sulphur and salt peter ground up and mixed. I didn't slurry and dry it, that would have made it explode but mixing it dry, it was like rocket fuel.

Years ago I was cleaning a basement and mixed Comet and bleach, got sick as a dog, that makes phosgene gas.
