The unit is original to the house, although the a/c thingie outside is newer.>> A friend bought a nice looking story and a half and wound up sleeping in the basement during the summer. Sounds like you need two things, more roof insulation and booster fans in the upstairs ducts. That new roof I had put on may have not saved any money but the house stays a lot cooler.
