So sad, isn't it? That reminds me that one of the suggestions my Dutch friends made was make arranged marriages illegal (the arranged-for spouse is almost always someone from the village who is then allowed to emigrate). Not sure how they could stop that, though, short of stopping almost all immigration, like the U.S. did in the late 19th/early 20th century to stop Chinese coming here.
