All of the current Justices had an average of 5.5 years of Federal experience as a Judge. 4 of the 9 current judges had less experience than Roberts when they were appointed. Only 3 of the current judges had more than 5 years when they were appointed, and these 3 combined had 40 of the 50 years total Federal experience prior to appointment, among those 9. So I think Roberts' experience is good enough to fit right in. Your contention that Roberts' 2 years of Federal experience isn't enough ignored the good work that the current justices have done, almost half of which had less experience than Roberts at the time of their appointment.

That's too bad. It seems that politics plays a bigger role than experience in the selection of SC Justices. I don't get why you think that's okay. Saying they've done a good job means nothing. How do you evaluate the notion they may have a done a better job had they had more experience?
