Well if the number of days between the resignation and the anouncement is longer the those of the last dozens as I believe I had heard, it seems Frank Rich simply made holes in the fabric of reality pulling his threads together.

"one of the hastiest court announcements in memory" would imply alzheimers in mr rich.

but it's the nytime where fiction rules.
