And a hello to you, Karen. But I'm not certain just what your point is. Be happy to talk.
If the point is that there are Dems with money, I certainly agree. I'm not certain Bill Gates, Jr. (his father, as I recall, is a Dem, certainly has Buffett's views on tax policy) is a Dem (or a Rep for that matter) since he gives, as I recall, to both parties and Microsoft does so as well. But be that as it may, if you track the data on increasing income inequality over the last thirty to thirty five years, it gets seriously depressing. (And that does include two Dem administrations.) And some portion of that is due to government taxing policy.
It truly would be interesting to see exactly how much all of the top 500 wealthy pay in Federal Income Tax....
My guess, and it's only a guess, perhaps ww will offer a more informed view, they pay a great deal less, as a percentage, than you and I. As I get deeper into pension law to deal with the 70 1/2 minimal distribution issues from 403(b) pensions, I'm struck again just how slanted the laws are to protect the rich. Just understanding the laws well enough to take care of oneself and family requires at least an expensive tax lawyer. |
