And none of this has much to do with whether Rove/Libby used the completely morally unacceptable tactic of destroying Joe Wilson's wife's career to get back at him for simply disagreeing with them. Just reprehensible.

John, Wilson was going about proclaiming that he was a Very Big Cheese, whom The Vice President had sent to Niger, where he had Proved there was No Iraqi Seeking of Yellowcake.

Which statements, as we know, shall we be charitable & say, not exactly so. He wasn't a big cheese, he was an out of work Democratic ambassador, the VP never sent him, and far from disproving the Niger-Iraq connection, his very limited tea-drinking in Niger found supporting evidence for the connection, which he somehow forgot to mention in his NYT op-ed. That is, unless you think Joe Wilson is a fount of truth and the Senate Intelligence Committee is lying.

Now the obvious question to any Washington observer, was, how the heck did an unemployed partisan Democrat former ambassador who was obviously angling for a post in the Kerry campaign/administration, get sent to Niger on a CIA mission for the Bush administration, which mission he could pretty well be counted in advance on to undermine?

Now if you are working for the White House, how do you answer that question without mentioning the words "wife" and "CIA", if only on background?
