A business and a residence within a few blocks from where I work in downtown San Diego have both received the "we see you pay X amount in property taxes, we have plans to build condos on the lot that would yield XXXXXX amount of tax dollars for the city. Sell to us for (low ball #) or we will have to eminent domain" signed your friendly neighborhood builders.

The building where my office is is now on the block. The owner did not receive a letter but he is not going to wait around for his. Nor does he even want to push his luck and find out whether these builders are simply full of it.

Bad stuff this lack of property rights. Seems to be getting more and more like the third world around here.
