What do you use the tabs for?

I use them for things I want to view concurrently. Say I'm responding to a post and I want to check something on Google or the dictionary or I want to follow the discussion back a few steps to double-check who said what, I do those things in separate tabs. Or if I'm spending too much time on SI and I want to check what's on TV without losing my place on the board, I pop over to another tab and check Zap2It and pop back.

The other use I have for them is to speed things up. If I'm reading, say, the Post, I scan through the front page and right click on any links to articles I want to read to open them in new tabs. That queues them up so I don't forget anything or lose my place. It also allows them to load while I'm doing something else and they're ready for me when I get to them. Or sometimes here on SI someone will include a link that I want to look at later so I open it in a new tab so I don't forget about it. I'm usually pursuing several avenues concurrently when I'm on the computer and it's easy to lose track of something I meant to pursue so the tabs are reminders of things I wanted to read.

I like tabs a lot. I don't do anything with them you couldn't do with separate windows, I guess, but separate windows are more resource intensive than tabs and my computer is a few years old now. It would sometimes spit up when I tried to open more than a handful of windows in IE. It doesn't seem to mind however many tabs I have open.

Right now I have five tabs--this one, bloglines, and three items I found on bloglines probably an hour ago that I haven't gotten to yet because I got distracted by this discussion.
