<They gave chase, caught and floored him, and shot him when he tried to fumble with the jacket. To pull a detonator cord maybe?>

Or maybe to detonate a nuclear bomb via a cellphone. Or maybe to pull out anthrax. Or maybe he didn't fumble with his jacket. Making up things silly.

Get a grip.

Pearly B is right. The police were over the top, disguised as civilians.

The police have done more harm than the latest bombers.

You think the police aren't having a lot of fun with this? They won't say it's fun of course, but action is fun and they are in their element.

So far, I'd say a lot of people are more scared of the police than the bombers. I see police swaggering around in various places now, armed with machine guns. They look pretty happy to me.

People give them a wide berth. Bombers are very good for business. There might even be promotions and gongs to be had. At least budgets should get a boost.
