Cramer Wipes Egg From Face Over Global ePoint / FinancialWire®

July 25, 2005. (FinancialWire) Jim Cramer, who among other things owns TheStreet.com (NASDAQ: TSCM) and hosts a show on General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) owned CNBC, was left looking a little banged up after falling for what might have more sizzle than steak.

Cramer, who recommended the stock of Global ePoint Inc. (NASDAQ: GEPT), a manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, saw his credibility take a hit because the company he promoted is associated with the dubious Ceocast.com, which is not known for its impartial investor relations work.

Global ePoint apparently has a dramatic sense of timing, recently announcing a video surveillance tool that will reportedly include facial recognition features. Announced on the heels of the terrorist attacks in the UK, the company’s share price inched hire.

While one report noted that Global ePoint’s share price is known to rise quickly and then fall just as quickly, it added that the stock could reverse the trend by continuing to climb.
